ABSTRACT
Background: In the present study, analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity for ethanolic and aqueous flower extract of Sterculia foetida was investigated.
Material and methods: Analgesic activity was determined by two methods (tail immersion & hot plate) & anti-inflammatory activity was determined by three methods (carrageenan, formalin induced paw edema & cotton pellet granuloma) at doses 200 & 400mg/kg body weight in experimental animals using diclofenac sodium, tramadol, Indomethacin as reference drugs.
Results: In all the animals models the results obtained were statistically significant (P<0.05) in comparison to control. Conclusion: In those animal models, the results obtained indicate that Sterculia foetida has significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.
